Ingredients
For the Arnold Palmer:
- 1/2 cup black iced tea
- 1/4 cup lemonade
- Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
For homemade black iced tea:
- 1/2 cup Assam tea (29 g)
- 4 cups cold water
For homemade lemonade:
- 3 cups water, divided
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- Juice of 6 large lemons, about 3/4 cup
Method
1. In a small pot, bring 1 cup of water and the granulated sugar to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let it boil for 2 minutes before cooling to room temperature to form a simple syrup. Combine the simple syrup with the remaining 2 cups of water and freshly squeezed lemon juice from 6 large lemons.
2. In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1/3 cup honey and stir until dissolved. Turn off the heat, add 5 black tea bags, and let it steep for 5 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
3. Fill a glass 2/3 full with ice. Mix 1/2 cup of the prepared black iced tea and 1/4 cup of lemonade together and pour over the ice.
4. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy.
By tweaking the portions of iced tea and lemonade, you can customize the drink to be sweeter or tarter, yet it will always retain the characteristic flavors of the classic Arnold Palmer.
