Care for soft toys: how to clean without a washing machine
Keeping soft toys clean can be challenging, but there are various methods to help maintain their cleanliness and disinfection. SSPDaily has reviewed effective ways to clean soft toys without using a washing machine.
Hand washing
To wash soft toys without a washing machine, you need to fill a basin with warm water and add a mild detergent. Gently immerse the toy in the water and hand-rinse it to clean all areas. After thorough rinsing, allow the toy to air-dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
Spot cleaning
For small stains or dirt, dampen a clean cloth in water and mild detergent, then gently dab the affected area. Use a separate cloth dampened with clean water to rinse off the detergent. Afterward, let the toy air-dry completely.
Freezing method
To eliminate bacteria, small insects, and unpleasant odors, you can place the toy in a sealed plastic bag and freeze it for several hours. After freezing, remove the toy from the bag and gently shake it to get rid of loose dirt and debris. The toy should be allowed to return to room temperature before use.
Steam cleaning
If available, a handheld steam cleaner can be used to effectively disinfect soft toys. Following the manufacturer's instructions, apply the steam evenly to the toy's surface, being careful not to oversaturate it. Air-dry the toy before use.
Dry cleaning
For delicate or valuable soft toys, professional dry cleaning is recommended. It is advisable to contact a dry cleaner with experience in caring for toys to ensure proper cleaning.
