How to clean pipes in the bathroom: five effective ways
Sometimes, due to wool, hair, food debris, and other garbage, the sewage system in the kitchen and bathroom gets clogged. SSPDaily has collected five ways to get rid of this common household problem on your own.
Vinegar and baking soda
Pour a tablespoon of baking soda into the sink, followed by one cup of white vinegar. The chemical reaction will create an effervescent foam that will remove grease, dirt, and small blockages. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes to allow it to work.
Boiling water
Boil a pot of water and carefully pour it down the drain in two or three stages, allowing a few seconds between each drain. This will dissolve the grease and soften the dirt while unclogging small clogs. However, don't use this method if you have a porcelain sink to avoid possible cracks due to sudden temperature changes.
Bent wire
Take a wire hanger and straighten it as much as possible, leaving a small hook at one end. Insert its end into the drain and start fishing out the debris that caused the clog. Pull it out as carefully as possible so as not to damage the pipes. Then wash the sink using the vinegar and baking soda method of removing dirt.
Vacuum cleaner for wet and dry cleaning
If you have a wet and dry vacuum cleaner in your home, it can be a great tool for removing stubborn dirt. Turn on the wet mode and create a seal around the sink drain. Turn on the vacuum cleaner: the powerful suction should dislodge and draw in the debris that caused the blockage. After that, properly dispose of the collected waste.
Drain cleaners (use with caution)
Drain cleaning products can be effective in clearing clogs, but they should be used with caution. These liquids contain strong chemicals that, if used excessively, can harm both your pipes and the environment. If you have purchased such a product, follow the instructions carefully and do not use it too often.
