How to use dandelion: plant food and pest control
Did you know that dandelion can help you improve your crops? SSPDaily talked about an infusion of this plant, which can help kill annoying weeds and at the same time protect the garden from pests.
Useful properties of dandelion
Dandelion roots contain many essential elements. For example, we are talking about phosphorus, calcium, potassium, manganese, iron, and many others. The juicy green leaves and stem contain a large amount of nitrogen, phytoncides, and essential oils. And the flowers themselves contain vitamin C, B6, titanium, magnesium, iron, boron, and many others. Therefore, the infusion of this plant performs two functions at once. In particular, it nourishes plants and repels pests.
Preparation of dandelion infusion
This remedy, which consists of dandelion flowers, stems, leaves, and roots, can be used alone or combined with nettle to increase its effectiveness. To prepare the mixture, you need to take a large vessel (for example, a 10-liter bucket), fill it halfway with dandelion greens, preventing seeds from getting in.
Gently pour in warm water, leaving 5-7 cm from the edge to form foam. Subsequently, cover this with a lid, leaving some space for the necessary air exchange. Alternatively, you can cover the barrel with breathable film by piercing it for ventilation.
After that, you need to wait 2 weeks, while stirring the product every 3-4 days. Afterwards, strain the infusion and dilute it with water (1:10).
Which plants to fertilize
Dandelion infusion can be effective for fertilizing peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, and roses. However, it should not be used for onions, garlic, and beets, as it will hinder their growth.
Pest control agent
The infusion can protect against pests, especially aphids and honey bees. To do this, finely chop the dandelion leaves, combine them with warm water and leave them overnight. After straining, this mixture will become an effective remedy for use. In particular, you need to carry out 3-6 treatments of the plant every 3-4 days in dry and calm weather.
