Total Time: 7 mins
Servings: 1
Ingredients
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- ⅛ tsp baking soda (skip if using self-raising flour)
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 1 medium egg (optional but can be included for a moister texture)
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp canola oil or 3 tbsp vegetable oil/sunflower oil
- 1 tbsp water (optional)
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract/a few drops vanilla essence
- 2 tbsp chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins (optional)
Method
1. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt (plus baking soda if not using self-raising flour) in a large microwave-safe mug to prevent overflow.
2. Incorporate the egg if using; mix thoroughly. Don't worry if some dry mix remains.
3. Stir in milk, oil, water (if used), and vanilla until the mixture is smooth. Add your choice of chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins if desired, and mix again.
4. Place the mug in the center of the microwave. Cook on high for 1.5 to 2 minutes, until the cake has risen and is firm to the touch.
