Use old socks: creative ways to reuse them
Every housewife knows how easy it is to find worn socks or those without a pair when cleaning out the closets. Instead of throwing them away, consider these clever ideas to give them a new life. SSPDaily has told you some interesting ways to use them.
Repurposing socks
- Making toys for pets
Don't throw away socks when you have furry friends. Simply fill them with cotton or foam, fasten them tightly, and add small bells or objects that make noise.
- Chair leg covers
Protect your floor by upcycling socks into chair leg covers. Cut off the bottom and place it over the leg of your furniture. Sewing is not necessary, but it increases durability.
- Shoe rags
You can use a sock to polish your shoes or boots for a great shine.
- Needle and pin pad
Take the bottom of a sock, stuff it with foam, cotton or synthetic winterizer, and sew it up. You will have a convenient and inventive solution for storing needles.
How to make a rug from old socks
- Preparation
Cut off the elastic bands, worn parts, or damaged areas of the socks. Cut the sock into "rings" about 2-2.5 cm wide.
- Weaving
Take one sock ring and shape it into a figure eight by rolling it between your fingers. Intertwine the other sock ring with the original figure eight and repeat the process until you have a bright, colorful ribbon of intertwined sock rings.
- Form a rug
Fold the woven ribbon of socks into the desired size and shape and secure it with stitches to hold everything in place.
