BMW Championship: Keegan Bradley's Surprise Victory at Castle Pines
The BMW Championship featured 50 players vying for a top position, with only 30 advancing to the upcoming Tour Championship. Among these, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler stands as the top seed. Notably, Keegan Bradley, the US Ryder Cup captain, gleamed from the tournament with a surprising championship victory, entering the Tour Championship in fourth place.
Bradley secured his spot as a final qualifier, finishing the Castle Pines competition with an even-par round of 72 to total 12 under par. He outperformed competitors Ludvig Åberg, Sam Burns, and Adam Scott, who tied for second just a stroke behind.
Bradley gained his lead decisively on the par-four 10th hole. Here, he made a par when Scott faltered, three-putting for a bogey on this demanding hole. This key moment ensured Bradley's position at the top would remain intact.
Using their impressive play, Åberg heads to the Tour Championship in fifth place. Burns, delivering the day's best score—a remarkable seven-under 65—manages to sneak into the top 10, landing ninth overall. Meanwhile, Scott finishes in 14th position.
Although tying for 33rd at the BMW, Scottie Scheffler retains his status as the top seed for next week, beginning at 10 under par. Xander Schauffele follows him in the standings, showing a tied-fifth finish, putting him at eight under. Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who withdrew due to a back injury, holds the third spot at seven under.
Rory McIlroy ranks sixth starting the Tour Championship, wrapping up the BMW with a tied-11th finish, thanks to a final-round score of 71 that left him at six under.
Only the top 30 players on the FedEx Cup points list from the BMW Championship are eligible for the final contest at East Lake. Among these top contenders, England’s Tommy Fleetwood solidified his position, climbing from 31st to 22nd due to a tied-fifth finish, finishing at eight under.
Notably, two-time major champion Justin Thomas sneaks into the championship field, landing in 30th place despite struggling with a disappointing score of two over. Brian Harman, this year’s Open champion, narrowly misses the cut, finishing 31st.
