Chelsea in Advanced Deal Stages for Atletico's Omorodion
Chelsea is diligently working on a deal to sign Spanish forward Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid. Personal terms have already been agreed upon, with Chelsea aiming to finalize the transfer for £35 million, Football.london reported. The 20-year-old forward, who joined Atletico last summer shortly after making his La Liga debut for Granada, spent the last season on loan at Alaves, scoring eight goals in 35 appearances. However, Chelsea must wait for Atletico to complete their acquisition of Manchester City's Julian Alvarez before the finalization of Omorodion's deal.
Atletico has secured an £81.5 million deal for Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, including an initial payment of £64.4 million and potential add-ons worth £17.1 million. Selling Omorodion will aid in raising funds necessary for Alvarez’s transfer. Additionally, Chelsea's midfielder Conor Gallagher has agreed to join Atletico for £33 million.
This summer, Chelsea has already signed eight players under manager Enzo Maresca, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, Omari Kellyman, Filip Jorgensen, Tosin Adarabioyo, Caleb Wiley, Estevao Willian, and Marc Guiu. Meanwhile, the club has sold defenders Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall, and forward Omari Hutchinson. Other players like Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr, and Thiago Silva have left on free transfers, and Gallagher is close to finalizing his move to Atletico Madrid. However, the future of Romelu Lukaku remains uncertain, with the striker having spent the last two years on loan in Italy.
Chelsea's Premier League season commences at home against Manchester City on August 18, following their pre-season friendlies with Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
