A flock of mongooses bravely fights off a baboon attack: wildlife video
A flock of mongooses attacked by two baboons managed to emerge victorious in this competition. One of the baboons was injured by the small creatures after trying to grab their cub.
The rare sight was captured on camera by 57-year-old Charmaine Kritzinger, a wildlife lover and enthusiast, during her stay in Marlot Park. Charmaine, who lives in this wildlife-rich area, shared her story and footage with LatestSightings.com.
"I was just at home, outside, enjoying the peaceful nature of Marlot Park, when something unusual caught my attention. It was a peacock running at full speed, and to my surprise, it was carrying a dead mongoose! But that was just the beginning. Another peacock appeared, and it was chasing a large group of mongooses," she said.
"The second peacock tried to catch the mongoose. He made several attempts. However, it was clear that these mongooses were not going to give up without a fight. They were a family," the woman explained.
In the end, the mongooses were the winners. They managed to fight off the peacock, protecting their cubs.
"Witnessing such a rare and unexpected interaction with wildlife was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me," the wildlife researcher said.
