Gemini's Gmail Q&A is Now Available for Android Users
Google is enhancing its Gmail service by introducing a new feature involving its AI chatbot, Gemini, on mobile devices. Previously available only on the web, the Gmail Q&A feature now allows Android users to ask Gemini questions about their inbox. This feature will soon be available on iOS as well. This is prepared by SSP.
The Gmail Q&A function, unveiled earlier at Google's I/O conference, enables users to seek specific details from their emails, display unread messages, filter messages by sender, or even summarize specific topics. Accessible by those with a Google One AI Premium subscription or a Google Workspace plan with certain add-ons, Gmail Q&A comes equipped with the well-known capabilities and occasional inaccuracies of generative AI.
Users access Gemini under Google's "AI-first" paradigm shift, meeting the needs traditionally filled by basic search functions but likely done with greater ease and functionality via AI conversation. To use Gemini, paying users can click the black star logo within the Gmail app; however, reliance on it should be careful due to AI hallucinations.
Previously, Gemini was made available to web users in June by Google's more premium offerings. The additions reflect Google's broader effort to integrate Gemini across its services like Google Docs and Google Calendar, although it primarily targets paying services.
Google's rollout indicates an ongoing trend toward basking these polished AI features under premium user subscriptions, thus, no such free availability of Gemini features is expected soon, solidifying the utility augmentation hoped to favorably evolve revenue. Tune down delays as Gmail Q&A could take up to 15 days to appear for users starting this Thursday.
