Google wants to integrate AI into Google Maps: how it will affect
Google is not shy about implementing artificial intelligence in its apps and services, and it seems that Google Maps may be the next to get an integrated AI chatbot.
The code hidden in the latest beta version of Google Maps for Android, discovered by Android Authority, contains several references to conversations in the program, including the phrase "you're talking to a chatbot," which in some ways hints at the innovation, Softonic.com writes.
"However, only a few lines of related code have been spotted so far, so we have no information about this chatbot in terms of what form it will take, what it is intended for, and how it will integrate with the rest of Google Maps," the report says.
How can artificial intelligence help Google Maps?
Experts suggest that this may be related to sending feedback and comments to Google Maps, possibly through the Local Guides program.
The line of code that says "thank you for your input" certainly confirms this. A chatbot can come into play when you have visited a place and ask you about your experience or what you think of the service.
Another possibility is that the next bot will provide travel tips: what to see in a particular area, where to stay, etc.
As a final option, artificial intelligence can be used to answer questions Google Maps users have about restaurants and businesses, such as opening hours and amenities. This is something that agents and users currently do manually.
