Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Leaks on Prices, Release Date, and Features
Apple and Google appear to compete to see whose upcoming phones can leak more, with daily rumors spilling about the iPhone 16 series and the Pixel 9 line. Google seems to have taken the lead with extensive leaks about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold surfacing recently, Tom's Guide reported.
Release Dates Revealed
According to Android Headlines, the Google Pixel 9 series, including Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, will be announced on August 13 and immediately available for pre-order. These three models are expected to ship on August 22. However, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will not be shipped until September 4. This staggered timeline could lead to a bit of a wait for those anticipating the foldable model.
Pricing Insights
Leaker @OnLeaks, in collaboration with 91Mobiles, has provided crucial pricing details. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be offered in two configurations: the 256GB model priced at $1,799 and the 512GB version at $1,919. These prices match the original Pixel Fold, indicating no increase cost-wise. While pricing for other regions hasn't been confirmed live yet, reference is given to the UK where the original Pixel Fold versions sold for £1,749 and £1,869 respectively. As the original didn't launch in Australia, it’s uncertain whether the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be available there.
Leaked Features and Design
A series of promo images and a video, courtesy of @OnLeaks and Android Headlines, present several notable features. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold appears to tout an 8-inch foldable screen and a 6.3-inch outer display, both larger than its predecessor’s 7.6-inch foldable display and 5.8-inch cover screen. Unlike the original Pixel Fold, this new iteration can unfold completely flat.
Additionally, with upgraded RAM and the new Google Tensor G4 chip, which imbibes architectural advancements rumored based on the Exynos chip, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold promises enhanced computing power and novel AI functionalities. It is also revealed that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
While we always retain some skepticism regarding leaks, much of this convincing information seems sourced from official marketing materials. As we approach the formal announcement, stay tuned for more updates.
