ABBA Spark Outrage Over Hefty Price Tag for New Greatest Hits Album
ABBA fans are furious over the high price of the group's newly announced greatest hits album. Titled "The Singles – The First Fifty Years," the album comprises 38 tracks spread across four vinyls and is priced at £98. Upset fans expressed their frustration online, criticizing both the cost and the album’s presentation. The iconic Swedish band, which gained worldwide fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and has sold over 150 million records, has stirred disappointment despite long-standing fan loyalty.
The album, featuring essential tracks like "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia," combines songs from their early years and their final album, "Voyage," released in 2021. Some fans felt the album offered nothing new, branding it a money grab given that many of the songs are already owned by dedicated followers. Complaints also cited the use of inferior 140 grm vinyl instead of the standard 180grm.

The release mirrors their 1982 album "The Singles – The First Ten Years" but expanded to include recent tracks. Buyers of the collection will also receive a 24-page illustrated booklet filled with liner notes and rare photos. Yet, some fans are still unhappy about the high cost, with remarks ranging from annoyance over being expected to pay for repetitive content to outright declarations of refusing to purchase the pricey offering.
