Linkin Park Welcomes Emily Armstrong and Unveils New Album and Tour
Linkin Park has announced a significant update as it embarks on a new chapter almost a decade after Chester Bennington's passing. Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara has been introduced as the co-vocalist, and the band shared that Colin Brittain, known for his work with G Flip, will join as their new drummer. This development comes ahead of the release of their first new music in nearly ten years and a world tour.
The unveiling of Emily Armstrong sparked curiosity and some controversy among fans. On joining the band, Mike Shinoda shared that after spending time together in recent years, they felt a strong bond and natural chemistry with Emily and Colin, showcasing their world-class talents. Moving on from their tragic hiatus, the band expressed a newfound empowerment in their music and the invigorating energy brought by the new lineup.
Simultaneously, the band has confirmed their upcoming tour and new album, From Zero, set for release on Nov. 15. Their tour kicks off at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Sept. 11, 2024, marking their first live performances since Chester’s memorial tribute concert in 2017. Teasing this announcement with cryptic social media posts, Linkin Park has reengaged their fanbase eagerly awaiting new material.
However, controversy brewed regarding Armstrong's past associations with the Church of Scientology and convicted rapist Danny Masterson, raising eyebrows among long-time followers. Despite this, the focus remains on the collective artistry and the brand-new music venture on the horizon.
Summing up the recent dynamics, this new phase not only reminisces the strong bonds since the band’s inception but is also a bold step towards musical rejuvenation and adaptation, respecting both their roots and unexplored arenas. "We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we've made together," Shinoda summed up succinctly.
