Armie Hammer Sells Beloved Truck Due to High Gas Costs

Armie Hammer, 37, recently revealed via Instagram on August 27 that he is parting with his cherished truck due to the high gas expenses. According to the New York Post, Hammer, who has moved back to Los Angeles, stated that the gas costs have become unmanageable, prompting him to sell his 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Pickup.

Returning to L.A. after some time, Hammer shared how much he valued this truck, which he bought as a Christmas gift to himself in 2017. The actor reminisced about using the vehicle for various trips, including camping, cross-country travels, and even bringing his children, Harper, 9, and Ford, 7, from the hospital after they were born. Despite the sentimental value, he shared how filling up the gas tank now costs him about $400-$500, an expense he can no longer afford.

In his Instagram video shot at CarMax's parking lot, Hammer stressed that his post was not an advertisement for the company. He elaborated on his decision to switch to a more economical hybrid car, noting the drastic difference in fuel costs between the two vehicles.

Hammer mentioned that this change coincides with his upcoming 38th birthday on August 28, marking a fresh start with a new car, apartment, and way of life in L.A. Even though his children are "not happy" about his decision to let go of the truck, Hammer sees the situation pragmatically, acknowledging that parking will be easier and gas will be cheaper for his new vehicle.

This announcement comes amid Hammer's ongoing efforts to rebuild his life and career, which were significantly impacted by various allegations, including abuse and cannibalistic fantasies, in 2021. He discussed the consequences of these allegations in interviews, expressing gratitude for the "career death" and its role in his self-reconstruction. Despite societal criticisms and financial struggles, Hammer has been proactive in managing his resurgence and earning his keep, notably working in timeshare sales in the Cayman Islands.
