Man Vows to 'Never Fly Economy Again' After Simplification of Reclining Seat Debate
The age-old controversy regarding whether it's appropriate to recline a plane seat has surfaced once more after a man endured an 11-hour flight plagued by a reclined seat, sparking a promise never to fly economy again.
During long flights, some passengers recline their seats, making the space even more cramped for those behind them. While many feel that the option to recline should be completely banned, others defend its necessity. Cory Lee, a frequent traveler and wheelchair user, shared his frustrating experience on TikTok, where his video quickly garnered over four million views.
Describing the ordeal, Cory said, "He even stayed fully reclined for all meals! I know it's my own fault for booking economy, but I learned a very valuable lesson from this experience... if I cannot afford Premium or Delta One for flights over eight hours long, I will not be going on that trip."
This incident has led to significant engagement, with many flocking to comment and offering a mix of support and dissenting opinions. Supporters like one viewer expressed: "I would never recline out of respect for others." Another concurred, saying, "Non-recliner here. I'd be mortified if I cut into someone else's personal space on an already tiny seat for 11 hours straight. You lose your table function, the screen is hard to see, it's miserable." A third person added, "Seats should not recline," while a fourth mentioned, "It is so claustrophobic. People shouldn't recline unless there's nobody behind them."
Conversely, there were several who habitually recline their seats. As one person admitted, "I'll recline my seat the second I get on the plane." Another boldly stated, "I recline immediately every time," and yet another pointed out, "There's no way I'm not reclining for an 11-hour flight."
The conversation continues to divide passengers on the ethics and etiquette of reclining seats on flights.
