Megan Finds a Signed First-Edition Copy of Her Favorite Book at a Bargain Price
Jamie Clark experienced an extraordinary surprise while shopping at her local charity shop. In a moment of sheer luck, she stumbled upon a signed first-edition copy of Nicholas Sparks’ "The Notebook," her favorite novel, priced at merely £1.50 ($2). Overwhelmed with emotion, she captured the stunning discovery in a video that has since garnered nearly 300,000 views.
Browsing through the book section, Jamie found the rare treasure and instantly recognized its value. The signed first-edition copy’s worth can fluctuate, but similar items have fetched up to $375 (£290). An author herself, Jamie exclaimed in her video, "I’m dying right now – $2 at Goodwill, and I know this is a big deal."
Jamie, 43, hails from Maine and has a personal connection to this novel. Two years earlier, her husband gifted her an original signed first-edition of "The Notebook" for their anniversary, for which he had paid several hundred dollars. At the end of her video, Jamie shared her excitement, laughing and proclaiming she now owned a signed first-edition for each of her daughters.
Unsurprisingly, the viewers were just as astonished by her luck. One amused commenter remarked on the consistent pricing of Goodwill, "Goodwill Is TRIPPING. $2 for a used yogurt container and $2 for a signed 1st edition book." Another agreed, saying Jamie's effort deserved such a happy surprise.
Comments ranged from amazement to agreement, with another viewer sharing, "My grandma has at least 5 copies just like this, signed with the same photo from a book signing in New Bern, NC. I love your excitement." This adventure indeed affirmed that Jamie was meant to own both copies of this beloved book.
