Woman's husband serves her wine in 'wrong' glass – and people are seriously horrified
Therese Ryan, a self-labeled 'Favourite Menopause Mum,' sparked a debate on TikTok by criticizing her husband's choice of glassware for serving her white wine. Like many wine enthusiasts, she knows that white wine should be served chilled, but for some, the type of glass used also significantly impacts the experience.
In a short clip, Therese is seen eagerly awaiting a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from her husband. However, she was not pleased with his choice of glass, rating his effort a dismal one out of 10 and expressing her frustration in the caption: "He was kind getting it, but OMG that glass." This minor faux pas quickly caught the attention of other women who shared her sentiment in the comments section.
The main issue appeared to be the size and shape of the glass. One commenter said, "I'd struggle drinking from that glass. Well, the first few anyway." Another added, "Can't stand a full to the brim glass of wine. Almost changes the taste." A third agreed, stating, "Those glasses do not allow your wine to breathe and don’t fit in half as much as one would like."
Others emphasized the importance of the glass's shape for enjoying a truly luxurious experience. A user remarked, "Thin glass and only up to the curve make the wine tastes so much better." Another echoed this sentiment, saying, "I hate drinking from these squat thick glasses... wine never tastes as good."
However, a segment of commenters felt Therese's reaction was ungrateful, particularly given that her husband may not have had a choice in the glass used by the establishment. One individual commented, "I'm not sure he can control what glass the establishment you are in serves the wine in." Another pointed out, "Where do we think we are all high and mighty, and fussy about a glass, come on, it's clean just enjoy!"
The incident underscores the diverse opinions people have about how wine should be served, especially among those who see the glassware as integral to the overall experience.
