Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned for four years for doping. SSPDaily told more about it.
According to Tuttosport, this decision was made by the Italian National Anti-Doping Tribunal, which had previously suspended the 30-year-old Frenchman from football until the circumstances were clarified.
Pogba failed a doping test after the first round match of the Italian Serie A against Udinese on August 20 last year. In October, it became known that the French midfielder's repeated doping test also showed elevated levels of testosterone in his blood.
It was reported that Paul was facing a four-year ban if it was proven that he had intentionally used a banned drug. In the end, the footballer failed to prove the opposite.
Pogba has already announced that he will appeal his disqualification to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.
It will be recalled that in the summer of 2022, Pogba returned to Juventus as a free agent after six seasons at Manchester United, which paid the Turks 105 million euros for the Frenchman's transfer.
Previously, Paul had already defended the Bianconeri colors from 2012 to 2016. In total, the midfielder played 190 matches for the Old Lady, scoring 34 goals and 41 assists.
This season, Pogba played only 52 minutes in two Serie A matches, in which he did not score.
The footballer has been playing for the French national team since 2013 and has played 91 matches, scoring 11 goals. As a member of Le Blanc, he became a silver medalist at Euro 2016, the winner of the 2018 World Cup, and also won the 2020/21 Nations League.
