Meghan Markle will appear in Prince Harry's series on Netflix
Meghan Markle will make a brief appearance in the new Netflix series "The Heart of Invictus" to support her husband, Prince Harry's project. The 38-year-old Duke of Sussex released the Invictus Games documentary on Netflix as part of an $80 million deal.
The Daily Mail reports that the 42-year-old Meghan is involved in the series in a more symbolic way, appearing in several episodes where she gives a speech and supports Harry. The news came as the couple was preparing for their first public appearance together after attending the Women in Vision Awards in New York in May of this year.
Four episodes feature Meghan Markle in her husband's series
The Duchess appears on screen in only four episodes of the five-part documentary series. In the most notable episode, Meghan speaks at the opening ceremony of the Games, introducing Harry on stage - this footage was broadcast live.
Harry thanked his wife for the introduction, saying, "Thank you, my love."
In another episode of the first series, Meghan can be seen with Harry at the Salute to Freedom Gala in New York in November 2021. The couple arrives at the event, and the Duke confesses to the Duchess that he is nervous about his upcoming speech. He tells her: "We haven't done this in a long time," to which Meghan replies: "I know."
In the third episode, the couple discusses the Invictus Games in The Hague, describing the day's events as "tense" and "difficult" and expressing their excitement about meeting the Ukrainian team. Backstage at the Games, they take part in a group therapy session and then attend the opening ceremony, where Meghan praises the audience for their "incredible support."
In the last episode, Harry prepares his speech for The Hague, holding scribbled notes, and jokes that it is written "how not to speak." Meghan stands next to him in a white suit and smiles as their advisor, James Holt, looks over the Duke's notes.
Netflix released a trailer for the series on August 16. Despite rumors of the project's failure, the platform expressed support for the couple, stating that their partnership with Archewell Productions continues.
On August 24, it was confirmed that Meghan would join Harry at the Invictus Games next month, although she may miss the opening ceremony. On September 7, Harry traveled to the UK to attend a charity awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of seriously ill children and their families supported by the WellChild organization on the eve of the first anniversary of the late Queen's death.
