Six medals for two: Ukrainian weightlifters become European champions
The Ukrainian national team has won six more medals at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. Anna Davydova and Svitlana Samulyak won the awards.
Both Ukrainians climbed to the podium in the 64 kg weight category.
Davydova became the European champion in the total biathlon (220 kg) and also won two silver medals in the clean and jerk (100 kg) and the shot put (120 kg).
Samulyak won gold in the snatch (101 kg) and bronze in the clean and jerk (118 kg), and won silver in the overall biathlon (219 kg).

1. Anna Davydova (Ukraine): 100 (snatch) + 120 (push) = 220 kg
2. Svitlana Samulyak (Ukraine): 101 + 118 = 219
3. Victoria Volk (Poland): 94 + 121 = 215
Davydova won medals at the European Championships for the first time in her career. Samulyak became the winner of the continental championship for the second time in a row, last year she won three silver medals in the weight class of up to 55 kg.
In total, Ukraine has already won ten medals at Euro 2024 in weightlifting: 5 gold, 4 silver and one bronze.
Earlier, Kamila Konotop became the absolute champion of Europe,having won three golds in the weight category up to 59 kg, and Pavlo Zalipsky won silver in the snatch (weight category up to 61 kg).
