The film "20 Days in Mariupol" about the crimes of Russians has won the prestigious British BAFTA award
On February 18, the 77th BAFTA Awards ceremony was held by the British Academy of Television and Film Arts, which recognizes the best national and international films.
Thus, the Ukrainian film 20 Days in Mariupol, which recently received recognition at the DGA Awards, received another award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in the Best Documentary category.
By the way, the film was also nominated for Best Non-English Language Film. However, the Ukrainian film was beaten by director Jonathan Glazer and his film Area of Interest. This was reported by the official website of the British award.
It should be noted that the film "20 Days in Mariupol" directed by Mstislav Chernov depicts the events of the first days of the siege of Mariupol at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In particular, the film contains footage of Russian shelling and the bombing of a maternity hospital. Thus, the crimes and terrorism of the aggressor country are exposed to the world community.
As a reminder, the film 20 Days in Mariupol was also shortlisted for the famous Oscar 2024. We will find out whether the film won in the Feature Documentary category on March 10, when the award ceremony will take place in Los Angeles.
