The former world champion who knocked out Fury made a prediction for his fight against Usyk
Former world heavyweight champion Steve Cunningham shared his prediction for the fight between WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC titleholder Tyson Fury. SSPDaily tells about it.
According to the 47-year-old American, the fight for the title of absolute world champion will end with a victory for the Ukrainian boxer.
"I think Usyk can beat Fury for two specific reasons. The first is Usyk's skills. He has no equal in this regard. The guy has fancy moves, which makes him a very uncomfortable opponent. Usyk thinks differently, looks at everything from a different angle. And he demonstrates boxing of the highest level. He will throw a lot of punches that can stun Fury.
The second reason is his team and management. His manager is Aegis Klimas. He is a driving force in Europe and around the world. Egis has a solid career and he knows how to protect his fighters," Boxing News 24 quoted Cunningham as saying.
It should be noted that Cunningham met with the Briton in the ring in 2013. Back then, the American managed to knock down the "Gypsy King" in the second round, but in the seventh round, Steve lost to Fury by knockout.
We would like to remind you that the Usyk-Fury fight was supposed to take place on February 17, but due to the British fighter's injury, it was postponed to May 18. The venue of the fight has not changed - the boxers will face off in the ring in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
In order to avoid another disruption of the fight, the organizers have established sanctions that will be applied to Usyk or Fury if either of them fails to enter the ring on May 18. The boxers face a huge fine if they refuse to fight on the scheduled date.
The winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the first absolute world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.
The last "absolute" in heavyweight was Lennox Lewis, who gained this status in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. Back then, the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles were at stake. The WBO belt was recognized as equivalent in 2007, so the winner of the fight between Usyk and Fury will become the first ever "absolute" heavyweight champion with four major titles.
