Could the Sun become a black hole and what will happen to the Earth then – a new study
Scientists have found that the Sun will turn into a white dwarf after its death. The researchers predicted what would happen if it became a black hole.
This was reported by SSPDaily.
The Sun continues to live by fusing hydrogen atoms to create helium in its core and releasing energy and heat. They allow our planet to exist as it is now. It also allows all living organisms to exist on Earth. But at the end of their lives, all stars run out of hydrogen needed for fusion. Stars like the Sun, in this case, go into the red giant stage.
According to scientists, this will happen in about 5 billion years, when the production of heavier chemical elements begins in the Sun's core, and hydrogen synthesis also begins in the shell around the core. As a result, the temperature of the Sun will increase significantly, and its outer layers will begin to expand into space. Thus, the Sun will turn into a huge red giant. This will lead to the fact that our star will swallow the Earth.
Accordingly, the Sun cannot turn into a black hole because it has too little mass for this. black holes are astronomical objects with the strongest gravity. This means that all the nearby matter is absorbed by the black hole, causing it to grow and increase in size. Therefore, it can be assumed that in this case, the Earth will be swallowed by a black hole, into which the Sun will turn.
Earlier, scientists said that our fiery gas ball would disappear in trillions of years, and a recent study showed that the Sun is facing many changes that will occur much earlier, heralding the end of the solar system.
