How to avoid crowds in popular tourist destinations: expert advice
Some of the most popular destinations in Europe this summer have found it difficult to cope with the rapidly increasing number of tourists.
SSPDaily talked to expert Sarah Faith from Responsible Travel to find out how tourists can avoid the crowds.
"Traveling at off-peak times is one of the best ways to avoid crowds in popular destinations. But you can also take a slight detour from the established route. Find out what the locals love, explore the surrounding villages, or spend time visiting local farmers', crafts and flea markets," she says.
According to her, by choosing quieter places and less popular routes, tourists can get more freedom and an authentic experience.
But at the same time, Sarah advises choosing local guest houses rather than using Airbnbs, because in this way you will primarily support the residents of the cities and villages where you are going.
