Android 14 brings improved customization options to your phone's lock screen. You'll be able to customize the look and feel of your widgets in a more convenient and flexible way right from the lock screen.
This is a beta version, and you'll be able to change the settings yourself until the full release of Android. Tomsguide.com describes how to customize the screen lock.
Changing the screen lock in Android 14
- Press and hold an empty space on the lock screen.
- Tap the "Customize lock screen" prompt at the bottom of the screen and unlock your phone using the available methods (password, pattern).
- Choose a clock style, color scheme, size, system colors, and wallpaper. By default, five predefined color and wallpaper palettes are available, but you can use additional options if you wish. Once you've chosen your preferences, return to the screen.
- Scroll down to customize lock screen shortcuts, notification options, and more. Select "Always show time and info", or if you want to use the always-on display.
- Select two shortcuts to appear on either side of the lock screen button. For example, a regular camera shortcut, Do Not Disturb mode, QR code scanner, or flashlight. Unfortunately, you can't add shortcuts to third-party programs.
- Your new lock screen is ready. Enjoy your Android experience.
