ChateLaine asked Harry Josh, a famous hairdresser from Vancouver, about ways to rehabilitate hair. Here is what the hairdresser advised.
What destroys hair?

We lose hair due to hot styling, dyeing, metabolic disorders, scalp problems, hormonal changes, and exposure to ultraviolet radiation. It is impossible to protect against this for 100%. However, Josh said, it is quite possible to slow down the process of hair deterioration.
Prevention is easier than cure
And the first thing he advises to start with is prevention. One of the most vulnerable "locations" here, according to the expert, is the scalp, which should be kept clean and the idea that "shampoo spoils hair" should be abandoned. He advises adding a regenerating skin serum to them.
The expert further recommends:
- Pay attention to how your hair reacts to different products, tools, and methods, "If you see that your hair is falling out after any procedures or products, you should give them up," Harry says.
- Limit thermal exposure to your hair as much as possible and use thermal protection sprays and lotions when blow-drying, curling, or straightening.
In general, the expert says, make hair care a daily activity and share your thoughts and concerns with your hairdresser. "Such a dialog with a stylist is very important," Josh believes.
Change your hairstyle and be patient
He also recommends changing the style of your hair, combing it carefully, and paying attention to the ends. "You need to 'seal' them and use cuticle filler," the hairdresser says.
An important factor in hair care is proper sleep. Here Josh advises to "reduce friction". "Try sleeping on a silk pillowcase or wearing a satin hat," he explained.
"If the air is dry and your hair is constantly rubbing against something rough, it will break."
In the end, the master wished everyone who is struggling with hair damage to be patient.
"Just like building muscle, you need consistency to see gradual improvements," he said. The first results, the expert said, will appear no earlier than in a month, and more significant ones within a year.
