Wipe dry with a clean towel and let it air dry completely before further storage.

Natural disinfection with lemon and salt

For a natural disinfectant, cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice onto a wooden board. Sprinkle coarse salt evenly over the surface and gently rub the board with the lemon halves. The acidity of the lemon and the abrasive salt work together to remove stains and eliminate bacteria. After cleaning, rinse the board thoroughly with warm water and let it air dry.

Restoration with oil and vinegar

Wooden cutting boards need to be refinished periodically to maintain their integrity and prevent them from drying out or cracking. A mixture of food-grade mineral oil and white vinegar can work wonders for refinishing a board. First, wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove any remaining dirt.

Mix equal parts mineral oil and white vinegar in a small bowl, then use a clean cloth or paper towel to apply the mixture to the board. Rub thoroughly, allowing the wood to absorb the solution. Leave on for several hours or overnight, and then wipe off any excess oil and vinegar before using the board again.
