How to save wet, overcooked rice if you are cooking it at home
If rice becomes soggy and sticky during cooking, it's because of excess starch. However, it is possible that you have overcooked it or that it is a feature of this variety.
SSPDaily has studied the main ways to cook perfect rice. Here are a few simple techniques that will help you always get a high-quality dish and solve the problem of sogginess and stickiness.
The first tip from the experts is to rinse and soak the rice a few minutes before cooking. This way, you will get rid of excess starch and remove pesticides from the rice grains.
An important factor when cooking this cereal is the right amount of water. Excess liquid in the pan is the main cause of sticky rice, so it is recommended to drain it.
It is equally important to stir the rice periodically during cooking so that it does not stick to the bottom and turn into porridge.
If, despite your best efforts, the dish turns out to be sticky, add water to dilute the starch and then drain it. This will improve its quality.
Another way to save the product is to heat it in the microwave or on the gas stove over medium or low heat, with the lid open. Be careful not to overdo it and turn it back into porridge. "Dry" the rice in this way for no longer than 15 minutes, at a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius.
