How to sharpen a kitchen knife: three easy methods
Looking for ways to sharpen a dull knife? SSPDaily has prepared several useful tips on how and with what to do it.
Sharpening Stone
Start by placing the sharpening stone on a stable surface and hold the knife at an angle of about 20 degrees. Gently press and draw the blade across the stone with sweeping motions, trying to cover the entire length of the blade. Repeat this on the other side and continue alternating until the blade is sharp enough.
Ceramic Mug
For quick knife sharpening, you can use the bottom of a ceramic mug. Simply flip the cup and carefully run the blade along the ring on the bottom of the cup. The abrasive surface of the ceramic will help sharpen it. This method can be a practical solution when a sharpening tool is not readily available.
Newspaper or Cardboard
Cut through a newspaper or cardboard several times to engage the full length of the blade. This process helps align the blade and remove dull spots. While it may not replace professional sharpening, it can be a temporary solution when traditional tools are not at hand.
