The hotel booking service Hotels.com has published a list of unusual room requests.
It is noted that hotel administrations are expanding their room service offerings to meet any request. Therefore, diet water, melted ice cream, and a bowl of rice for dogs are not such whimsical requests, as reported by Euronews.
Almost 40% of the surveyed hotels emphasized that the demand for room service is growing.
What is most often ordered to the room?
Burgers have become the most popular dish for room service, surpassing the classic club sandwich. After surveying hundreds of hotels, Hotels.com found that burgers account for 40% of orders.
But there is also a shift to more plant-based foods. More than 55% of hotels reported an increase in the number of vegan meals ordered, which is more than vegetarian or lactose-free meals.
The most extravagant offers
For €1356 per night at The Milestone Hotel in London, guests can treat themselves to a private concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra right in their room.
From private concerts to private canoes, in-room dining at the InterContinental on Bora Bora can be delivered to the deck of your overwater villa in a traditional canoe.
Some hotels offer room service options specifically for children. Ashford Castle in Mayo, Ireland, offers a Lego service, where both children and adults can choose from a selection of construction sets that will be delivered to the room on a silver tray.
The Plaza Hotel in New York often orders the ice cream featured in the movie Home Alone 2: 16 scoops of ice cream with different toppings costing €277.
At the same time, the Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas, offers to try the Black Gold Burger for €1482, consisting of 16 ounces of Wagyu beef, fried foie gras and black truffle, placed on a black brioche bun with caviar and 24-karat gold.
