Many Ukrainian families have probably had a problem with cockroaches at least once. They are also extremely difficult to get rid of. But in order to prevent them from appearing, you need to know the reason for this, and it's not always food scraps, garbage, or migration from neighbors. What houseplants attract cockroaches
Fittonia, heather, bamboo, and papyrus. It turns out that cockroaches are very fond of these plants. Even an orchid can be attractive for them. Therefore, you need to be extremely careful with these plants, preferably not to feed them with organic matter because they will turn into a real nursery for pests. It is also worth checking that there are no residues under the flowerpots that attract cockroaches. Keep in mind that pests also like damp places and food debris, so you should check everything carefully and make sure it's dry and clean.
Flowers are not the only reason why cockroaches appear, there is also garbage and food debris. Household waste should be taken out three to four times a week, if not every day, to avoid attracting pests. It is very difficult to get rid of such uninvited guests later. However, there are several tools at hand that will come in handy in the fight against cockroaches.
How to get rid of cockroaches with the help of improvised means
- Boric acid. To fight cockroaches, make boric acid balls. Mix egg yolk with flour, add a little boric acid to make a dough like for dumplings. Form balls and place them in the places where the most pests gather. They will disappear from your home in no time.
- Ammonia. To make cockroaches disappear from your home, you should rub the kitchen surfaces with ammonia as they are very afraid of its smell.
- Vinegar. Make a solution of water and vinegar in a 1:1 ratio and wipe the surfaces in the kitchen. Cockroaches are scared away by this pungent odor, so they will leave your home.
- Homemade traps. Take a bowl, pour beer or something sweet into it, and then grease the edges of the container with petroleum jelly or vegetable oil. Cockroaches will not be able to get out of the bowl.
