According to SSPDaily, the latest health research shows that quitting bad habits (even if you're over 60) extends your life by two decades.
The results of this study were presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition, Nutrition 2023, which was recently held in Boston. The experiment studied the lifestyles of 720,000 military veterans, aged 40 to 99.
The project leader, Xuan-Mai Nguyen, a health sciences specialist in the Million Veteran Program at the Boston VA Healthcare System, said: "You have 20 years to change everything in your life, whether you do it gradually or all at once."
In his opinion, this "reform" should include: physical activity, nutrition, sleep, stress reduction, and the development of positive social relationships. You should also completely eliminate nicotine, alcohol, and opioids from your life.
For your information, a study has shown that quitting opioids is the second most important factor that increases life expectancy and reduces the risk of premature death by almost 40%.
As for regular exercise, it is the most important activity for prolonging life. Thus, the analysis recorded a 46% reduction in the risk of death compared to people who have never played sports.
