British pilot Patrick Smith explained why it is better to avoid seats at the back of the plane. According to him, pre-booking seats is especially important on long-haul flights.
The Daily Star shared the pilot's advice. Smith said that airline employees make their own reservations and advise others to choose seats at the front of the plane.
The tail should be avoided, and not just because of the proximity to the toilets. The reason is that the strongest turbulence during the flight is felt in the last rows.
The pilot also noted that for a comfortable stay on board, especially on long flights, it is important to book a specific seat in advance to avoid ending up in the middle seat.
"The longer the flight, the more crucial it is to choose the right seat. If your only goal is to save money by opting for the cheapest fare, you will likely end up in the middle seat. For any flight lasting more than a few hours, I recommend paying extra for the option to choose a seat. Just keep in mind that airplanes are configured differently depending on the model and market. You can check diagrams and reviews on specialized websites beforehand," the pilot said.
