Caring for clothes made of materials such as cotton and wool requires special attention. These delicate fabrics can be quite finicky and often need dry cleaning. Therefore, it is very important to carefully study the labels and follow the recommendations. SSPDaily told you about the rules for caring for cotton clothes.
Can all things be restored to the previous form
Almost everyone has faced the disappointment of discovering that after washing, the clothes have significantly shrunk in size, which is why only a child can wear them. However, it is important to note that not all items can be restored to their original size and appearance. The composition of the fabric and mistakes made during washing can significantly affect the result.
What to do if your clothes shrink
First, fill a basin with warm water and soak the clothes for 10-15 minutes. After that, gently squeeze out the excess water and place the garment on a flat, horizontal surface. To prevent the cotton fabric from drying out, cover it with 1-2 towels. Periodically stretching the material in different directions, do not forget to cover it again.
An alternative method involves creating a solution of 2 liters of water and 20 grams of baking soda. Soak the shrunken item in this solution for 4-6 hours. Rinse it thoroughly and then repeat the process using a solution of 2 liters of water and 10 tablespoons of wine vinegar.
After rinsing, gently squeeze the water out of the product. Place it on a horizontal surface, preferably a towel, and cover it with another towel. This will help restore its original size and shape after drying.
