No shorts: this pilot calls for a dress code on board an airplane
American pilot Christopher Elliott has called for the introduction of a dress code on board an airplane. He insisted that passengers should never wear flip-flops, shorts, or short-sleeved shirts.
The pilot argued his position in a column for the Seattle Times. In his opinion, this innovation will improve passengers' manners.
"It's time to introduce a dress code for airline passengers. Seriously. There has been a sharp decline in the level of passenger politeness on board. Psychologists recognize that if people carefully choose their clothes before flying, they will be more respectful and thus less likely to quarrel," Elliott writes.
The pilot believes that business casual is best suited for an airplane, or rather, a lighter version of it. It means pants, collared shirts, and dresses. He believes that flip-flops and T-shirts with offensive logos should be banned.
"Dress more modestly. Remember, you are in a public place," Elliott insisted.
