A court hearing in the case of missing flight MH370 is scheduled for November 27 in Beijing, China. The families of the passengers will meet in court with five defendants, including the Malaysian flag carrier Malaysia Airlines.
This was reported by the state-run Chinese newspaper SSPDaily, citing the words of Jiang Hui, a representative of the families of the missing passengers. He said that he had received a court notice from the Chaoyang District People's Court.
The families are very satisfied with the progress of the case and hope for a favorable interim or final verdict, Jiang said.
The case was filed in 2017. At the time, the families demanded compensation ranging from a minimum of 14 million yuan ($1.9 million) to a maximum of 77 million yuan ($10.9 million).
It is also reported that the victims are awaiting an official apology from the defendants and demand that the search for the missing plane continue.
As a reminder, the infamous Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 disappeared near the island of Phuket in the Strait of Malacca on March 8, 2014.
The plane lost contact 39 minutes after departure from Kuala Lumpur Airport en route to Beijing. There were 239 passengers on board.
Over the course of 10 years, hundreds of theories have emerged, wreckage has been found, and even a Netflix documentary series called MH370: The Plane That Disappeared has been produced. However, the plane was never found, and the search stopped in 2018.
