At the last fashion show in Paris, Humane presented a new version of its futuristic smartphone that does not need a screen. During the fashion show, the device was demonstrated by the famous Naomi Campbell.
Engadget reports that the supermodel became the first person in the world to use Ai Pin before its presentation on November 9. Here is what else is known about this gadget today.
Humane is a startup founded by former Apple executives. Experts have long been working on a device that uses projectors, cameras, and artificial intelligence technologies as a kind of portable AI assistant.
The company itself describes Ai Pin as "a screenless, autonomous device and software platform built from the ground up for artificial intelligence." It runs on the "advanced" Qualcomm Snapdragon platform and is equipped with a mini-projector that replaces the smartphone screen, as well as a camera and a speaker.
The Ai Pin performs optical recognition based on artificial intelligence, but is said to be "privacy-oriented." It does not have a "wake-up word" function, such as "OK Google," and therefore does not have the "always-on ambient listening" feature.
Humane first presented the capabilities of Ai Pin at the Ted Talk conference in May this year. Although the device itself was hidden from the audience, the creators of Ai Pin demonstrated many fantastic features, including the ability to receive calls by projecting information on your hand.
However, many questions remain about Ai Pin. For example, how does it connect to the Internet if it is not synchronized with a smartphone and what are its global advantages?
Experts say that Ai Pin will likely have a rather narrow range of use in solving certain business issues and will be of interest to only a few users who want something more original than a regular smartphone.
