Astronomers have discovered a new water world located 70 light years from Earth. This ocean is very deep, and some chemicals on the planet may be of biological origin. SSPDaily discovered more about this new water planet.
This is reported by The Guardian.
The new water planet called TOI-270 d, which has a hydrogen-rich atmosphere, is believed to be completely covered by an ocean of liquid water, the depth of which ranges from several tens to several hundred kilometers. Astronomers also detected water vapor, signs of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere of the planet, which is about twice the size of Earth.
TOI-270 d orbits its home star in such a way that it always faces it with only one side. Therefore, on the day side, the water in the ocean is always very hot, but on the other side, the temperature is much lower, which means that there could potentially be habitable conditions there.
