Billie Eilish candidly shared the significant influence the clothing brand Brandy Melville had on her body image during her childhood. In an interview published by Complex on Dec. 5, the artist revealed that her fascination with the one-size-fits-all brand marked the beginning of her body-related challenges. As a child, Billie enjoyed wearing large dresses, steering clear of pants and shorts. This preference for expansive, fairy-like dresses sharply contrasted with her later experiences upon developing interest in Brandy Melville at age 11. As clothes from the brand did not fit her due to her early development and chubbier build, the experience led to self-image issues. Coupled with her involvement in ballet, another environment prone to fostering body image concerns, her feelings about her body were complicated.

Embracing baggy clothing became Billie's strategy to feel comfortable and at ease, serving both her style preferences and as a measure to obscure her figure. Despite criticism that came as her career soared at age 16, labeling her style and doubting her femininity, Billie found comfort in her distinct look.
