Liam Payne’s Grieving Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Spotted Crying in First Sighting Since His Funeral
Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, was seen for the first time since the singer's funeral. Photographed on November 28 in central London, the 25-year-old model appeared emotional as she visited a coffee shop. She was dressed in a long coat and sweatpants, her hair pulled back into a bun while holding a coffee cup, US Weekly reported.
Cassidy’s emotional outing marks her first public appearance since attending Payne's funeral on November 20 in Amersham, England. Images captured show her scrolling through her phone while navigating the streets, visibly affected by her recent loss.
At the somber funeral, Cassidy wore a black maxi dress with boots and a fur-collared coat. She completed her look with a matching black purse and sunglasses, accompanied by Damian Hurley, Elizabeth Hurley’s son. Among the mourners, attendees included Payne's parents, former One Direction bandmates – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik – and ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole, along with celebrities like James Corden and Simon Cowell.
Payne tragically passed away at age 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from the third floor of his hotel. Buenos Aires emergency services announced that he had incurred serious injuries that were deemed untreatable upon first responders’ arrival.
An initial autopsy indicated that he suffered from "internal and external" hemorrhages and may have fallen "in a state of semi or total unconsciousness." Reports later revealed that multiple drugs, including "pink cocaine," were present in his system. Subsequently, three individuals have been charged with supplying narcotics and facilitating abandonment leading to his death.
Kate Cassidy and Liam Payne had a turbulent relationship, dating on and off since 2022. They were vacationing in Argentina shortly before his death. However, Cassidy was not present during the incident due to her return to the United States two days earlier.
On October 18, Cassidy expressed her gratitude for the support she received, stating on her Instagram Story: "Thank you for all the kind words and love sent my way. I have been at a complete loss." She added, "Nothing about the past few days has felt real. I ask and pray for the grace and space to navigate this in private."
In a poignant tribute, she referred to Payne as her "angel," declaring: "You are everything. I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life."
Cassidy also shared a heartfelt note from Payne written weeks before his passing. "We sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together," she recalled. Part of his note read, "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444."
