Lufthansa plane makes unplanned landing due to quarrel between spouses on board
A Lufthansa flight from Munich to Bangkok made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The pilots contacted air traffic control and reported a problematic passenger.
The crew was asked for help by his wife, who claimed that the man had threatened her. The pilots described it as "a situation and a possible undisciplined passenger," Telegraph India writes.
"During the flight, a German husband and his Thai wife reportedly got into an argument. When the situation became unmanageable, the passenger asked the crew to intervene and complained that her husband was threatening her.
After boarding, the 53-year-old traveler was handed over to security. According to witnesses, he was throwing food and trying to start a fire on board, threatening to set a blanket on fire.
When the crew and his wife asked him to calm down, the man did not comply. According to local media, he apologized for his behavior only after landing.
His fate is currently being decided. Together with the German Embassy in India, the airline is deciding what to do next: send the passenger to the country on another flight or hand him over to the local police.
The detainee's wife reportedly intends to continue on to Bangkok.
