Microsoft Releases Windows App for Multiple Platforms, Including Android and IOS
Microsoft has unveiled a new Windows app, available not just for Windows PCs but also for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, web browsers, and Android devices. This app has gone through over a year of testing and functions as a central hub to stream a copy of Windows from various sources, including Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Remote Desktop. The unified app features a customizable home screen, multi-monitor support, and USB redirection, allowing users to use local devices like webcams, storage devices, and printers as if they were connected directly to the cloud PC. Designed primarily for Microsoft work and school accounts, the app is aimed at existing Remote Desktop users looking for easier connectivity to their work PCs from personal devices.
Currently, the app excludes consumer accounts, reflecting Microsoft's long-term vision of shifting completely to cloud-based Windows to offer enhanced AI-powered services and full digital experiences. Users can download the Windows app from Microsoft's Store, Apple's App Store for iOS, macOS, and iPadOS, while the Android version is accessible in public preview mode.
