Scientists may create human-like artificial intelligence within several years
Artificial intelligence (AI) that demonstrates generalized human-level intelligence could be created within three to eight years. This will open the door to 'superintelligence' in a very short period of time. SSPDaily told more about it.
This is stated in the material of Live Science.
According to leading AI expert Ben Goertzel, the best systems in use today are considered so-called "narrow artificial intelligence" because they can be more capable than humans in only one area. They cannot outperform humans in general. Such systems, which range from machine learning algorithms to large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, cannot think and understand context.
According to Goertzel, artificial intelligence similar to human intelligence will appear within three years.
"Nobody has created general human-level artificial intelligence yet; nobody has a clear idea of when we will get there. I mean, there are known unknowns and probably unknowns of the unknowns. On the other hand, it seems very likely to me that we will be able to achieve human-level AGI in, say, the next three to eight years," Goertzel said.
As a reminder, the United States is taking measures to regulate the issue of artificial intelligence, with Congress remaining inactive.
