Three massive asteroids are heading towards Earth on the same day
The asteroid, designated as 2024 DW, is expected to pass by Earth at a distance of 225,000 kilometers, much closer than the Moon. Currently, scientists report that it does not pose a threat to our planet.
This information was reported by SSPDaily.
Asteroid 2024 DW is one of three potentially hazardous asteroids, which are space rocks approaching Earth at a distance of less than 7.5 million kilometers, heading towards our planet on February 22. However, this asteroid will come closest to our planet.
Another asteroid, named 2024 DX, was also discovered earlier this year. It is 12 meters wide, but this rock is expected to pass by Earth at a distance of 775,000 kilometers. That is, it will be twice as far away as the Moon.
The third asteroid, the size of a passenger airliner and 27 meters wide, was named 2024 CE8 earlier this year. It is also expected to pass by Earth on February 22, but at a distance of 4 million kilometers from our planet.
As a reminder, an asteroid over 360 meters in size flew near Earth, but its distance from our planet was greater - 5.35 million kilometers.
