A well-known Ukrainian TV presenter told us how he became friends with Danylko in an original way: "I had to become a godfather"

Ukrainian TV host Kostiantyn Grubych spoke about his long-standing acquaintance with Verka Serdyuchka 's author Andrey Danylko.

The celebrity admitted that he had seen Verka Serdyuchka back in the summer of 1995 when she appeared in a commercial. By the way, at that time Grubych was a producer of a youth show for which he was looking for extraordinary characters. He liked the star's interesting image and wanted to invite her to his own project.

"It was fate that I became the person who convinced Andriy to open up. I persuaded him to appear in front of the public as the artist Andriy Danylko. At that time, no one knew who was hiding behind the image of Verka Serdiuchka. It was the summer of 1995, and there was a series of bank commercials on TV, where a strange-looking conductor was advertising vouchers. In February, I started a youth talk show on UT-1. And since the program was called "Pranks," it was supposed to feature characters who would live up to the name. And here I see this host – just what I needed," the host said in an interview with SSPDaily

In particular, Hrubych wanted to reveal not the character of Verka, but her author, Andriy Danylko. Eventually, after much persuasion, he managed to achieve his goal:

"And then he came to the meeting – so modest, even frightened at some points that I couldn't believe my eyes. It wasn't that he didn't want to appear in the program, he actively resisted. He explained that no one knew him, and he was fine with that he didn't want to reveal himself. However, in the end, we filmed the program. Perhaps the fact that we are fellow countrymen was convincing," Grubych added.

Kostyantyn also said that he and Andriy rarely communicate with each other now, although at one time he could have been his godfather.

"We were friends for a while. He was even supposed to become our godfather, but due to his busy schedule, it didn't work out. Now, maybe once in a few years, he will call. The last time we talked on Telegram was when he sent a meme with Oksana Marchenko at the beginning of the invasion, around March," the celebrity said.
