Dave Hollis’ Ex Heidi Powell Shares Last Text He Received Before His Overdose Death

Heidi Powell has opened up about the last text messages she received from her ex-husband, Dave Hollis, PEOPLE reported. In a recent episode of the "Him & Her" podcast, Powell detailed her final conversations with Hollis, who died from an accidental overdose on February 11, 2023.

During the November 13 podcast episode, the 42-year-old fitness trainer shared that she and Hollis remained in contact until the very night he passed away. "We never stopped talking until the night he died," she stated, noting the "beautiful closure" she found in the messages he sent her.

Powell recounted that the last message sent from him occured on her son’s birthday. She mentioned that, "It was like his soul knew it was time." The text contained profound sentiments where Hollis expressed concern, saying, "Hey, you know, coming to grips with where you and I are… I’m not just losing you. You’re not just losing me. We’re losing our kids." He conveyed how much she meant to him, and Powell reflected on it as the most beautiful day of texts and conversations.

Heidi talked about finding closure in their last conversation the previous evening. "There is closure with him, the most beautiful closure," she stated. Hollis, who was 47, succumbed to a combination of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol. He and Powell had undertaken a relationship following his previous marriage to Rachel Hollis, which ended in 2020.

During the podcast, she shared that they broke up "a handle of times" and never reached serious discussions about marriage, largely due to their different living situations. "He's in Texas. I’m in Arizona," Powell explained, noting the challenges of combining families. She voiced that they never really made it past a strong soul connection since both had kids from past relationships.

Powell revealed that when difficulties arose in their relationship, she often felt that Hollis would prioritize decisions for her rather than focusing on himself. Ultimately, they ended the relationship for good, resulting in Hollis seeking treatment for his struggles.

Back in April 2023, after his death, Powell addressed his passing through a heartfelt video on Instagram. She expressed that their prior breakups left her with "a lot of question marks" and stated that the love she held for him wouldn't diminish despite everything that had happened.
