American actress Natalie Portman has officially divorced her husband, dancer Benjamin Milpierre, after 11 years of marriage. SSPDaily learned that the ex-couple separeted and cpmpleted their divorce quietly.
A representative of Portman confirmed this information to People. The 42-year-old actress filed for divorce last July, and the divorce was finalized last month in France. This is where Portman and 46-year-old Milpierre live with their children, 12-year-old son Aleph and 7-year-old daughter Amalia.
According to a source close to Natalie Portman, it was not easy for her to break up with Milpierre:
"It was very hard for her at first, but her friends rallied around her and helped her through the worst of it," said a friend of the couple.
"Natalie is coming out of a really difficult and painful year, but she's stronger now and finding joy in her family, friends, and work," the source added.
The insider also said that after the scandal broke around their family, Portman and Milpierre focused on gently communicating the changed state of affairs in the family to their children.
Despite the difficult breakup, the ex-spouses managed to complete the divorce proceedings quietly and without much publicity.
As a reminder, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Milpierre met in 2010 while filming the movie Black Swan. Milpierre, as a choreographer, helped Portman learn complex ballet movements for the film. In 2012, the artists got married. They had two children, a son, Aleph, and a daughter, Amalia.
In June last year, the news spread that Benjamin Milpierre had cheated on Natalie Portman with 25-year-old eco-activist Camille Etienne.
Shortly after the news broke, the actress was caught with a man while walking, crying bitterly. Portman tried to save the marriage, and Milpierre called the affair a mistake and that it would not happen again. But in the end, the choreographer continued to cheat on Portman, and the actress filed for divorce.
