Sukhanov told how much he was offered Ukrainian citizenship for
Oleksiy Sukhanov, host of the socially important talk show "The Whole Country Speaks" on 1+1 Ukraine TV channel, has revealed that he was offered Ukrainian citizenship for money. SSPDaily tells about it.
In an interview for a YouTube project by journalist Ramina Eskhakzai, Sukhanov said that in 2014, when he had just arrived in Ukraine, he had the opportunity to obtain a Ukrainian passport by paying a bribe. The host refused this offer:
"The only bribe I was offered was a 10,000 UAH bribe in the days of Petro Poroshenko. I won't point the finger, but that was the price in his time. I refused. Because in 2014, I was going to a country that had to change, reboot, and truly become European. The position is not for sale. It's strange to side with a country and then buy a passport. This is nonsense for me. I refused, of course," Sukhanov said.
But later, the host did receive the coveted Ukrainian passport:
"Then Zelenskyy granted me citizenship, for which I am grateful, it is an honor for me, I have not regretted a single minute, and I am proud to be a citizen of Ukraine. Ukrainian citizenship is a great honor, it is an honor, and it should be imprinted in the minds of foreigners. This country deserves the best," the host said.
It should be noted that Alexey Sukhanov was born in Russia. In 2011, he started working as a presenter on a well-known TV channel. Currently, Alexey Sukhanov hosts the talk show "The Whole Country is Talking".
