Stress tolerance and empathy are qualities of the mind that allow children not only to survive in the face of information overload and competition but also to become as effective as possible. To learn this, a child must master mindfulness and meditation techniques.
Bangla Mirror talked to Raman Mittal, co-founder and marketing director of the Idanim meditation app, about this topic. The expert gave 5 tips on how to protect your child from stress and develop a sense of compassion for others. Here is what he advised:
- Be an example for your child. Children learn about the world by copying adults, especially their parents. And if you want to teach your child the ability to focus on the task at hand and empathy, be like that in your own life. This technique always works.
- Next, teach your child to meditate, starting with simple breathing exercises. Encourage such exercises. Let them be short but regular. As a result, this will become the basis for developing mindfulness and the ability to relax.
- Encourage children to explore their feelings and sensations. Encourage them to be aware of taste, sight, smell, touch, sound, and the ability to live in the present moment.
- Teach children to listen carefully. Tell a story or a poem and ask your child to focus on the details as much as possible. This is another technique for developing concentration and responsive communication.
- During classes, create a "full presence" factor. Take away anything that can distract. Creating a calm and centered environment will foster a deeper sense of connection between you and your child during subsequent mindfulness sessions.
